A question and a concern that rises in the minds of many believers in Jesus about prayer is this: “How do I know that my prayers are being heard and accepted by God? I mean, what if I’m not praying the right way…saying the right things?” Well…the Bible teaches us that those who have trusted in Christ have God, the Holy Spirit, living in them permanently (2 Timothy 1:14; Ephesians 1:13-14) and, as a result, the Holy Spirit, our Helper, always intercedes for us, taking our prayers and expressing them to the Father according to His perfect will.

Romans 8:26-28

26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

“The Spirit’s intercession…His petition…is in perfect accord with the will of God. The Father knows perfectly the mind of the Spirit. Thus, we can count on the intercession of the Spirit when, in our ignorance, we do not know what to pray for, but our heart is desirous of doing the will of God.” ~ Ivan French
