By trade, Jesus learned the vocation of His adoptive father, Joseph. He became a skilled carpenter and He was well known for those skills. In fact, in His own hometown of Nazareth, Jesus’ neighbors referred to Him as “the carpenter”…the definite article “the” indicating that He was a “master” carpenter (Mark 6:3). Jesus did amazing work with wood, especially His final work.

Colossians 1:19-20

19 For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in [Jesus, His Son], 20 and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.
