The words ring through our minds:  “I do solemnly affirm to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth…so help me, God.”  That’s a promise for which you will pay a “price” if you don’t keep it in a court of law.  Perjury is a crime that you don’t want to commit.  But, step outside the courtroom, and sometimes the truth is hard to come by.  It shouldn’t be that way…and the people of God should lead the way in telling nothing but the truth.

Ephesians 5:21-25 (NLT)

21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from Him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. 25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body.

“The whole truth is generally the ally of virtue; a half-truth is always the ally of some vice.” ~ G.K. Chesterton
