Names are significant. Many people of many cultures and many different language groups give great thought to the names that they give to their children. God the Father was very intentional about the name that would be given to His Son, who came into the human race through a virgin named Mary. Both His mother and His adoptive father, Joseph, were told, by angels of the Lord, to give Him the name “Yeshua” (Jesus). The meaning of that name, in the Hebrew language, is “The Lord is Salvation,” and that is exactly who Jesus is. He is the Lord God our Savior from sin. Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Matthew 1:21

“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”

“If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator.

If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist.

If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist.

If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer.

But our greatest need was forgiveness…so God sent us a Savior.”
