We all know what its like to have physical hunger and thirst and to satisfy those cravings with food and drink.  But Jesus talked about another kind of “hunger and thirst”…a craving for spiritual things…a genuine desire for the Word of God and the God of the Word. That’s a good hunger and thirst to have…and to have satisfied by Him.

Matthew 5:6

[Jesus said,] Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

“The key to Christian living is a thirst and hunger for God. And one of the main reasons people do not understand or experience the sovereignty of grace and the way it works through the awakening of sovereign joy is that their hunger and thirst for God is too small.” ~ John Piper
