Christians aren’t perfect. We still commit sins, and don’t let anyone tell you any different. Most Christians understand that, but sometimes we try to excuse ourselves from the fact. So often the excuse comes out in the statement: “Nobody’s perfect.”  True statement…but don’t follow it with the words, “I couldn’t help it.” Christian: You can help it. You can say “No” to sin and “Yes” to God. But, if you do sin, you must admit it…confess it to the Lord Jesus. You will be forgiven and He will cleanse you. He’s your defense attorney and He’s never lost a case! Here’s what the Bible instructs about those issues.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT)

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand/resist. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure (without sinning).

1 John1:8-9

1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 2:1-2 (NLT)

2:1 My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. 2 He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

“If Christians once learn the meaning of I Corinthians 10:13 they never again will say, ‘I couldn’t help it.’ ” ~ Dr. John Boyer

“Forgiveness is always free. But that doesn’t mean that confession is always easy. Sometimes it is hard. Incredibly hard. It is painful to admit our sins and entrust ourselves to God’s care.” ~ Erwin Lutzer
