The believer in Jesus is a person who has a secure and steadfast hope…both now and forever. Every promise that God has made to us, including His glorious promise of eternal life, are secured by Him. He has given us His word on it and He cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18). Therefore, His great and precious promises are meant to be an anchor for our souls to give us much needed strength, security and stability.

2 Peter 1:2-4

2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; 3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

Hebrews 6:17-19

17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, He confirmed it with an oath. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

“Hope is called the ‘anchor of the soul’ because it gives stability to the Christian life. But hope is not simply a ‘wish’ (I wish that such-and-such would take place); rather, it is that which latches on to the certainty of the promises of the future that God has made.” ~ R.C. Sproul

The Lord bless you and keep you…
