As a child, I attended a school which had an apple tree in the elementary school playground.  It wasn’t just any old apple tree…even though it was very old.  It was an apple tree planted by a man named John Chapman, better known as “Johnny Appleseed.”  He planted thousands of apple trees across the Midwest in the early nineteenth century.  He’d plant the seed but he would rarely get to see his trees bear fruit.  God likes to compare those of us who’ve trusted in His Son, Jesus, to fruit trees planted by Him, and He does get to see His trees grow, and mature, and His great desire is that they bear much good fruit.  What kind of fruit are you bearing for Him?

Psalm 1:1-3

The blessed man…whose delight is in the law of the LORD…will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; a nd in whatever he does, he prospers.

John 15:8

And Jesus said, “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.”

Ephesians 2:10

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

“Bearing fruit is not a function added to a plant but is an integral part of its design and purpose. Even before it is planted, a seed contains the genetic structure for producing its own kind of fruit. When a person is born again through saving faith and is given a new nature by God, he is given the genetic structure, as it were, for producing moral and spiritual good works.” ~ John MacArthur

The Lord bless you and keep you…
