Have you ever heard someone called an “overachiever”? Webster’s Dictionary defines an overachiever as “one who achieves success over and above the standard or expected level.”  We use the word when a student performs, academically, much higher than his or her IQ…or when a sports team, or an individual athlete, excels consistently at a level of success way beyond what their talent level would indicate.  “Overachiever” actually comes from a rarely used Greek word that is literally translated as “super-victorious” and it is used by the Apostle Paul for what we, as Christians, can overcome in life because of the presence and power of Jesus in our lives.

Romans 8:35 & 37

35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?…37 But in all these things we [are super-victorious, and] overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

“In Christ, you are an overachiever, a hyper-victor, an exceeding conqueror in the face of every obstacle in life.” ~ David Jeremiah
