“The fear of the Lord”…we find those words in Scripture hundreds of times, and every time they are directed at us…but what does it mean to fear God?  Are we to constantly cower in the corner, fearful that we might do something to incur His terrible wrath…that maybe it would just be best to keep our distance?  That doesn’t sound right, and it’s not.  One writer offers this explanation: “The fear of God is the astonished reverence we feel as we gaze upon His majesty, contemplate His immensity, and recognize His infinite power.”  That’s it!  It’s not about being afraid of Him.  It’s about how we think of Him…how we admire and esteem Him…and how we let that impact how we live our lives for Him…for His glory…for He alone is worthy to receive all the glory and the honor.  Then we will receive His blessing in return.

Psalm 128:1

How blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, Who walks in His ways.

“I believe that the reverential fear of God mixed with love and fascination and astonishment and admiration and devotion is the most enjoyable state and the most purifying emotion the human soul can know.” ~ A. W. Tozer

The Lord bless you and keep you….
