We know that salvation in Christ is not a result of our own good works, but it is by His grace through faith alone in Him alone…a free gift (Romans 6:23). However, the life of the believer is a life of works in living for the glory of God…not to stay saved but because we are saved. God has made clear, in His Word, that He wants, and expects us, to diligently pursue living that life for His sake and for His good pleasure. He lets us know that it will be hard work but He will be in it with us. Let us, therefore, diligently and obediently pursue the work He has called us to do…the life that He has called us to live!

Ephesians 2:10

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Matthew 16:24-25

24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. 25 For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”

Philippians 2:12b-13 (NLT)

12 So then…work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.

“The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried.” ~ G.K. Chesterton
