I still remember the person that I was before I trusted in Jesus by God’s grace through faith in Him. Perhaps you do too. My life was, in no way, good…in no way! I needed a thorough cleansing from sin. That’s what God does. He cleanses us…washes us completely from sin’s filth. It’s called “regeneration.” Like the old hymn asks and answers: “What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!” And when I think about it, I’m glad that, like a preacher one time prayed, I too can say, “I’m not what I want to be. I’m not what I’m gonna be. But, thank God, I’m not what I was.” Thank God, for His regenerating cleansing!

Titus 3:3-7

3 For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. 4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
