Have you ever run a 5K race? I did…once. I’m not a “runner,” but my daughters are, and they wanted me to run a 5K with them. The word that I became very familiar with in the process of running that distance was the word “endurance.” If you’re going to finish the race you’ve got to keep running…moving…even if its just walking at times. The Christian life is like that race. It’s a life of endurance. Every day…one step at a time…you’ve got to keep going…with Jesus…and Jesus set the example. He endured until He finished His “race.” So…fix your eyes on Jesus. Persevere and run with endurance!

Hebrews 12:1-3

1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

“Perseverance is the ability to press on with Jesus, despite the obstacles that we daily face. It’s being steadfast, goal-oriented and focused. It’s the opposite of backsliding. It’s the marathon runner refusing to quit, take a short-cut or fall off the pace in the test of endurance. It’s finishing strong.” ~ Randy Smith
