God has blessed us with the gift of music. You probably know how it is when you get a song going through your mind…one like Michael and Debra Smith’s, “Great is the Lord”…the truth of Scripture put to music: “Great is the Lord and worthy of glory! Great is the Lord and worthy of praise! Great is the Lord! Now lift up your voice, now lift up your voice: Great is the Lord!” Indeed, our God is great and worthy of all the glory and praise we can give Him! So…lift up your voice!

Psalm 145:1-4

1 I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise Your name for ever and ever. 2 Every day I will praise You and extol Your name for ever and ever. 3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. 4 One generation will commend Your works to another; they will tell of Your mighty acts.

“God does not like to be taken for granted. It flies in the face of His eternal purposes – that He be known and loved and praised and enjoyed. Everything, without exception, has to do with God and gets its main meaning from God. And not to show this, but to take this for granted, is to be superficial. It is simply impossible to overstate the importance of God. And He does not like being taken for granted. The psalm does not say, ‘Great is the Lord, and greatly to be taken for granted.’ It says, ‘Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised’ (Psalm 96:4).” ~ John Piper
