Every day of every week of every month of every year, God Almighty accomplishes many, many great things. However…two days stand out in our minds as those on which God did the greatest things ever: one, we call “Good Friday.” The second we call “Resurrection Sunday.” It was on “Good Friday” that the greatest act was done for all of mankind…an act that could not be accomplished by any ordinary man: only Jesus, the sinless God-Man, died as the “once for all” sacrifice for our sins. And, it was because of that death on that day, that the all-time greatest act could be accomplished on the following Sunday: the resurrection of Jesus…victorious over death and the grave.  And, because He lives, we, too, shall live by faith in Him!  He is risen!

Romans 6:5-10

5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for he who has died is freed from sin. 8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

“By His death on the Cross, Christ has become the Lamb that was slain for us, our Redeemer, the One who has made peace between us and God, who has taken our guilt on Himself, who has conquered our most deadly enemy and has assuaged the well-deserved wrath of God.” ~ Mark Dever

“Without the resurrection, the cross means nothing, for it has no validation, it has no vindication, it has no affirmation. But when God raised Jesus from the dead, He was affirming, and validating, and vindicating the fact that He had indeed borne our sins in His own body on the cross, and had satisfied the justice of God with His sin-bearing.” ~ John MacArthur
