Praise God for the great gift that He has given to the human race in the ability to make music.  For thousands and thousands of years, music has been used to soothe, lift, energize, and encourage the souls of God’s people.  In particular, music has been used as a tool…a vehicle…to communicate the truths of the Word of God in a format that becomes an effective aid to engraining them into our memories for a lifetime of use…even for those who “can’t carry a tune in a bucket.” The Book of the Psalms is, in fact, the inspired Hymnal of the Nation of Israel and of the Church of Jesus Christ and there are a few lyrics of the early church hymns and songs, scattered throughout the New Testament.  And, of course, there are hundreds of spiritual songs, not inspired Scripture, yet excellent reflections of the Word. Therefore, I encourage us all to keep this biblical command…

Ephesians 5:18-19

18 Be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord.

Acts 16:25

But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

“Next to the Word of God, music deserves the highest praise. The gift of language combined with the gift of song was given to man that he should proclaim the Word of God through music.” ~ Martin Luther

The Lord bless you and keep you…
