Sometimes during air flights you can plug in your headphones and listen to the pilots talking to air traffic control, at which point you might hear a question that sounds a little strange. “Flight five zero eight, what’s your final count of “souls” on board?”  The response would be: “Air traffic control, Flight five zero eight has 176 “souls” on board.”  Souls…that’s airline lingo for “persons.”  A person is considered a “soul.”  That couldn’t be more correct…biblically.  Genesis 2:7 confirms this: Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. So…the real “you” is the soul which resides inside of your body.  The soul is what is created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26).  We communicate and relate with God in our soul…soul to soul…person to person.  And that is why we say…or sing…with the Psalmist, David…

Psalm 103:1-2

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits.

“You don’t have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.” ~ C. S. Lewis

The Lord bless you and keep you…
