Many believers in Jesus fear being persecuted for their faith in Him and their testimony for Him.  They fear that they will fail Him if they are put under severe threat of loss or harm.  In actuality, the greater form of temptation is to receive the flattery and the praise of men, thus triggering the sin of pride and accepting the glory and praise that ONLY belongs to God.  Christian: Beware!

Proverbs 16:17-19

17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; He who watches his way preserves his life. 18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling. 19 It is better to be humble in spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud.

1 Timothy 1:17

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

“More men fall through the temptation to receive honor than through opposition. It caused the fall of the angels from heaven. It caused the fall of king after king in Israel. It was one of the greatest temptations offered to Jesus. It caused the fall and terrible death of Herod [Agrippa]. He received the praise which was due to God when he was only a sinful man.”  ~ Frank Allen
