Bad news or Good News…which do you choose? Which do you allow to saturate your thoughts…to dominate your mind?  Checking in on the the news of the day is not wrong, but too much of that will kill your joy. The Bible is very clear on how those things must not become our obsession. Become obsessed with God’s good news, not this fallen world’s empty distractions.  It’ll correct your focus, draw you back into His service, and restore your joy in the Lord!

2 Timothy 2:4

No soldier [of Jesus] in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.

Colossians 2:6-8; 3:1-4

2:6 Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. 8 See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ…3:1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

“In our world, where hundreds of things distract us from God, we have to intentionally and consistently remind ourselves of Him.  People who are obsessed with God have an intimate relationship with Him. They are nourished by God’s Word throughout the day because they know that forty minutes on Sunday is not enough to sustain them for a whole week, especially when they will encounter so many distractions and alternative messages.” ~ Francis Chan

The Lord bless you and keep you…
