In our world, and in our nation, there are a plethora of days which have been dedicated to many good causes.  I wondered if there was a day dedicated to a much needed, very biblical commodity, called “encouragement.”  A quick internet search revealed that there is, indeed, in our nation, a “National Day of Encouragement.”  It was designated to occur every year on September the 12th…the day after the remembrance of the horrendous event which occurred on September 11, 2001.  It’s great to have a day in the calendar year dedicated to “encouragement,” but, obviously, EVERY day of the year is a good day to practice being an encourager.  Encourage someone today and, of course, the greatest Source of encouragement comes from God and His Word!

Proverbs 25:11

Like apples of gold in settings of silver Is a word spoken in right circumstances.

Romans 15:4

For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

“Though some people may seem to be naturally gifted at encouraging and uplifting other people, the Bible makes it clear that we’re all to be encouragers. According to Scripture, encouragement is to be a regular part of our interaction with other people. This necessarily means that we must spend time with other people for the purpose of knowing their needs, their struggles, and how best they may be encouraged.” ~ Wayne Mack
