I’m not the world’s greatest listener.  It’s one of my faults and I know that I need to work harder at it…we all do… because being a good listener, first, then helps us to be better, and more discerning, helpers to our brothers and sisters in the Lord…and that is what Jesus really wants us all to be…a real help, a real encouragement, to those in need. His Word says so.

Proverbs 18:13

If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame.

James 1:19

19 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

Philippians 2:4

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

“The first service one owes to others in the fellowship consists in listening to them. Just as love of God begins in listening to His Word, so the beginning of love for the brethren is learning to listen to them. It is God’s love for us that He not only gives us His Word but lends us His ear. So it is His work that we do for our brother when we learn to listen to him.” ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The Lord bless you and keep you…
