We must all admit that there are times when we are…unreasonable.  The word means, “not guided by, or based on, good sense.”  It happens to the best of us. However, our God is always completely reasonable… always…especially when it comes to us…our sin…and His great plan for our salvation…the forgiveness of our sin.  God, in His great grace and love for us, comes to us…approaches us…and says, “Let’s reason together about what I can do for you.”

Isaiah 1:18-19

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool…if you consent and obey [Me].”

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord.” The proposition comes from God. It does not arise from the human side at all. It is a piece of pure condescension on the part of the Almighty Himself. Grace comes out of the sovereignty of God. The possibility of salvation comes from God’s grace. It is not in anywise of our conception or of our own doing. We are saved by faith, and that not of ourselves, for faith is the gift of God. God, having made this proposition, proceeds upon the assumption that He knows Himself to be right in this case.” ~ James Hastings
