As believers in the only, true God, we faithfully read His true Word.  We study His Word.  We listen to others proclaim His Word.  But…are we meditating on His Word?  It’s a crucial “step” of Bible intake, comprehension, and application that is often overlooked.  The Hebrew word for “meditate” is an agricultural term.  It could be translated: “to chew the cud”…you know…like a cow.  It’s not a mindless activity.  It is, in fact, very “mind-full”!  After you’ve read the Word…studied it…heard it… then, take it with you throughout the day and continue to “chew it over” in your mind…get everything out of it that you can…let it fill your mind…and see how you need to apply it in your life.

Psalm 119:15, 147-148

I will meditate on Your precepts And regard Your ways. 16 I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your Word…147 I rise before dawn and cry for help; I wait for Your words. 148 My eyes anticipate the night watches, that I may meditate on Your Word.

“Meditation is… spiritually “digesting” the Scripture—applying it, thinking out how it affects you, describes you, and guides you in the most practical way.” ~ Timothy Keller
