It’s such a common question…sometimes born of anger and defiance…other times, from a simple desire to understand more clearly…one word: Why?  Why did that happen? Why is this happening?  Ultimately, the answer may be beyond our comprehension because the answer is “God”…this is “of God.” This is about God and not about us…His ways, His plan, His will…and that can’t, and won’t, always be completely comprehended by us. So we must humble ourselves and bow before Him and just submit and surrender ourselves to His sovereign ways…without a satisfying answer to that question, “Why?”. That is the primary lesson He wants us to learn…in times like these…and in all times.

Isaiah 55:8-11

8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts. 10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; 11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

Job 42:1-3

1 Then Job answered the LORD and said, 2 “I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted. 3 ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ “Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.”

“It’s all about God, not me. And what does that mean?

God’s purpose is unfolding, and I cannot hinder it.

God’s plan is incredible, and I will not comprehend it.

God’s reproof is reliable, and I dare not ignore it.

God’s way is best, and I must not resist it.

Have you learned those things yet?” ~ Chuck Swindoll
